The K-12 Speech Program provides assessment, consultation, in-service, and direct intervention designed to facilitate the development and effective use of communication by students who have or who are suspected of having a communication disability. These services are provided to students in districts contracting with the ESD. The Bandon School District, Central Curry School District, North Bend School District, Port Orford School District, Powers School District and Reedsport School District currently receive K-12 Speech services from the South Coast ESD.
The South Coast ESD currently employs six Speech Language Pathologists, four full-time and two part-time, who work in the K-12 Speech program.
The Speech-Language Pathologists offer a wide range of services that include comprehensive evaluations, consultation and direct intervention. They attend pre-evaluation, eligibility, and IEP meetings, manage all the necessary IEP paperwork, bill Medicaid, attend team meetings and act as case managers for students who have a primary disability of Communication Disorder.
