The South Coast ESD Safety Committee meets the fourth Tuesday of every month from 3:30-5pm.
2019-2020 Safety Team Goals
1. Given that SCESD is in the high cost risk pool, the safety team will monitor the rate of 801s monthly, determine if organization wide interventions are necessary and intervene as needed by June 30, 2020.
Activities:
- Review the SAIF report monthly at Safety Committee meetings, discuss concerns and areas of need.
- Train all instructional staff on Safety in the Special Education Classroom.
- Develop and Implement a Safety Awareness Campaign.
- Conduct training interventions as needed
2. Given the variety of catastrophes that could transpire at any organization (i.e. earthquake, environmental disaster, intrusion etc.) SCESD will have detailed plans and staff training for identified catastrophes by June 30, 2020.
Activities:
- Development of a catastrophe sub committee
- Identify and detail needed catastrophe plans
- Develop a training program for identified areas of need
3. Given the introduction of students to the Coos Bay and Gold Beach Office sites, conduct a review of necessary emergency practices and develop systems to adhere to best practices in this new context by June 30, 2020.
Activities:
- Develop a master Safety Handbook to ensure SCESDs processes/procedures are well articulated and easily followed.
- For all areas in the handbook that have not been addressed, develop a system and implement.

- Develop “check points” at team meetings to include 801, Accident, SAIF Report, Student Behavior Program, Site Inspections
