Parent Advocacy

Purpose:

Our regional school districts, SCESD and our partners recognize the value of parent education engagement and voice. As part of the Integrated Guidance work with our school districts we will connect regional parents to one another, schools, services, agencies and resources to meet needs and support family health, create new and reinvigorate existing parent partnerships already in place regionally, provide parents with access to quality Parent Education, facilitate a regional Parent Advisory Council and support events like Focus Groups and Family Cafes where important information can be shared and gathered.

Goals:

  • Parents/caregivers are actively and authentically engaged in decision making processes of their schools, the ESD, local programs/organizations.
  • Families experience reduced disparities in accessing programs.
  • Student experience increased success academically and socially
  • Local programs/organizations have a better understanding of family’s needs and preferences within the region.
  • Increased opportunities for parent leadership. Parents feel empowered to advocate on behalf of their children and family needs in partnership with the organizations who serve our children and families.
