Migrant Education is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and funded Federally and through the State. SCESD is currently piloting a program for the 2017-18 school-year to support Coos, Curry and Western Douglas County School Districts.
Migrant education funds support high quality education programs for children who qualify for services ages 3 up to age 22.
The program helps ensure that children who migrate with their families for work are not penalized by disparities among states in academic achievement standards or graduation requirements.
The goal of the program is to ensure all students who are eligible for migrant services graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a GED) and are prepared for further learning and/or productive employment.
Benefits of the program include,
Free 24-hour accident insurance
Free and Reduced lunch
Online access to the Stride Academy
Oregon Migrant Leadership Institute
SAT and AP assessment assistance
College-Assistance Migrant Program
