2021-2022 Safety

1. Given that SCESD is in the high cost risk pool, the safety team will monitor the rate of 801s monthly, determine if organization wide interventions are necessary and intervene as needed reviewing progress to the board by August 30, 2022.

Activities

  • Review the SAIF report monthly at Safety Committee meetings, discuss concerns and areas of need.
  • Maintain an OSHA Compliant Safety Team
  • Develop and Implement a Safety Awareness Campaign.
    • 2020+ “Maintaining Momentum”
    • Review data by June 30 each year
      • Using check point data identify training needs
      • Using check point data identify safety awareness needs
    • Awareness
    • Based on check point data identify awareness needs
      • Injury sites and/or types
      • Awareness at each stage of employment continuum (hire to retire)
    • Training
    • Based on check point data review yearly for:
      • Training for staff
      • Safety hazard identification/remediation
      • Remediate accident/801 trends with training/safety awareness
  • Conduct training interventions as needed

2. Given the variety of catastrophes that could transpire at any organization (i.e. earthquake, environmental disaster, intrusion etc.) SCESD will continue to implement the Emergency Operations plan as detailed in the activities below and review progress to the board by August 30, 2022.

The EOP Team will develop the following annexes by June 30, 2022:

  • Active Shooter
  • Threat Assessment
  • PEEP

3. Given the COVID environment, RSSL, OSHA and SCESD determined safety protocols, the Safety team will evaluate COVID protocols monthly, identify/address concerns and assist with the development of protocol implementation and report the summary of data to the board by August 30, 2022.

Activities

  • Review progress on COVID protocols monthly and address as needed
  • Provide at least 3 communications per month on COVID safety protocols
  • Maintain an on-going connection to LPHA

4. Given the Safety Brain and the organization’s goals and safety campaigns, the safety team will maintain and update the safety brain as needed when new policies and/or issues come to light reviewing progress with the board by August 30, 2022.

Reboot an OSHA Compliant Safety Program

  • Develop “check points” at team meetings to include 801, Accident, SAIF Report, Student Behavior Program, Site Inspections
  • Develop a master Safety notebook with all systems, processes to refer to/maintain safety programs
