North Bend Educator Eva Varga Earns Regional Teacher of the Year Honor

Selected as a 2026–27 South Coast Regional Teacher of the Year, Varga now advances as a semifinalist for Oregon Teacher of the Year.

Eva Varga, an English Language Development teacher in the North Bend School District, has been honored as a 2026–27 South Coast Regional Teacher of the Year.

She is among only 17 educators statewide chosen for regional honors through the Oregon Teacher of the Year program. Like every regional honoree, Varga now moves forward as a semifinalist for the 2026–27 Oregon Teacher of the Year title.

An impact felt across the district

Varga's influence extends far past her own classroom walls. In her role leading the district's English Language Learner program, she partners with teachers in every subject area and grade level to build stronger language-development practices. That work helps make sure multilingual students have support at every stage of their schooling.

Those who nominated her highlighted her dedication to honoring the language skills students bring with them. They also pointed to the classrooms she builds, where every student feels respected and confident in their ability to succeed.
