Community Conversations

Let’s Talk: Substance Use & Stigma in Rural Communities
Join the conversation. Be part of the change.

Coos Health & Wellness invites you to a pair of free community events focused on tackling stigma around substance use disorder (SUD) in rural communities.

🗓️ May 13 & 14, 2025
📍 Coos Bay, Oregon

Stigma creates barriers. But conversations build understanding—and stronger communities. These events are a chance for residents to come together, share stories, and explore how we can better support individuals and families affected by SUD.

Led by facilitator Tedra Cobb, consultant with the University of Rochester Medicine Recovery Center of Excellence, these interactive sessions will include videos, discussions, and real stories from people with lived experience.

Why It Matters:
Stigma can stop people from reaching out for help. This isn’t a lecture—it’s a space for real dialogue. Together, we’ll look at how stigma shows up, how it affects people with SUD, and what we can do to create supportive, stigma-free communities.

Need Help?
If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, help is available. Recovery is possible—don’t give up.
